Getting Buy-In
Happy Friday, Everyone!
In this post I’ve summarized our discussion about getting buy-in from critical stakeholders. I have put the flip charts into a pdf document that you may access by clicking on the link below:
So, please look this over and comment. I am particularly interested in the military aspect. As I went over the notes, I started thinking “are we getting off target here?” I invite your comments on this.
So, we need to look at both targets and endorsers. Targets would be those organizations who could use what is being developed and Endorsers are those who could impact implementation with their support (or lack of support).
Thanks!
CLN Kids Comment Page
Greetings and Welcome to the CLN Kids Comment Page!
I have two requests for you. First, please review this revised version of our stakeholder map and post any comments or questions you may have.
Second, I would like us to think of this initiative in phases and what stakeholder involvement could look like in each phase. Phase I could be the development of the research, identifying what are the best practices at CLN Kids and where are the gaps between where CLN Kids is right now and where they want to be. Phase II could be taking what is learned at CLN Kids ‘on the road’ (for lack of better wording) in the Albuquerque community. Also, who should our stakeholders be in Phase II?
Third, I want you to consider these stakeholder categories I came across. I have tried to lay these categories on our stakeholder map and invite your comments on my efforts. As I did this, I started thinking about how the promoters and defenders categories may need to be re-considered. Some who are now defenders may need to be moved to promoters. For example, early intervention programs don’t have a lot of ‘power’ but could have power to make the initiative work or fail.
Stakeholder Categorization by Power and Interest:
Promoters: Stakeholders who attach a high priority to the initiative and whose actions can have an impact on the implementation – high power, high interest?
Defenders: Stakeholders who attach a high priority to the initiative but whose actions cannot have an impact on the implementation – low power, high interest?
Latents: Stakeholders whose actions can affect the implementation of the initiative but who attach a low priority to the initiative – high power, low interest?
Apathetics: Stakeholders whose actions cannot affect the implementation of the initiative and who attach a low priority to the initiative – low power, low interest?
So, I realize I’ve put a lot in this first post. Please let me know if it is too much. I can easily break it into parts.
Thanks so much for your time and I look forward to hearing from you!
Patty
